People have all sorts of ideas, plans, and designs to build a chicken coop. They can be anything from complex multi-story buildings, all the way down to small doghouse style residence enclosed by a few feet of chicken wire. Before diving right in to building an elaborate and expensive chicken coop, it would be wise to learn about how to build a chicken coop the easy way, that way you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor sooner.

Chickens aren’t very demanding creatures with pretty basic needs, which makes the need to build a chicken coop that is very complex and expensive unnecessary.  They need space for nests to be able to lay eggs, and a place to get in out of the elements to protect their eggs from the weather.

Something to remember if you are going to build a chicken coop, is that there are a lot of predators that consider chickens and their eggs a great meal.  For this reason, a chicken coop needs to be built sturdy and well protected.  Throw in a little food and water, and they are good to go.

Put a chicken wire fence around the coop with it buried in the ground slightly.  Some predators can dig underneath fences to get into a chicken coop, so play it smart.  A chicken coop built the easy way will make owning chickens easier in the long run.
